Veterans Day began "Armistice Day" on November 11, 1919, the first anniversary of the end of World War 1. Congress passed a resolution in 1926 for an annual observance, and November 11 became a national holiday beginning in 1938.  Veterans Day pays tribute to all American veterans - both living and dead - and gives thanks to veterans who served their country honorably. It is important that we always keep this question in mind: What can we do for our veterans so they never go unrecognized and under appreciated?  Instead of celebrating Veterans in our building this year, a field of honor has been created and is on display at Blue Jacket Park. We ask that if students visit the sight to remember to be respectful and take time to reflect on those that paid the ultimate sacrifice to ensure our freedom.

The BMS Pride of the Tribe for November 11 is Karsen Drake. He was nominated by Mrs. Zuk who says, "Karsen embodies what it means to be a Chieftain. He works hard on every assignment and takes his learning serious every day. Karsen asks questions and remains curious in his science lessons. He is kind to his classmates, and is willing to assist anyone who needs a helping hand.  Karsen goes above and beyond in his duties as a student and often stays behind to help organize the classroom and prepare materials for the next day.  Thank you for being a wonderful leader in science class!" Congratulations!
